Gustav Strijkers is full professor of preclinical and translational MRI at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Amsterdam University Medical Centers and the University of Amsterdam, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and adjunct professor at the BioMedical Engineering and Imaging Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York . He received a PhD degree in physics from Eindhoven University of Technology in 1999.

His group at Amsterdam University Medical Centers has the ambition to develop novel quantitative and comprehensive MRI techniques with application to important healthcare problems, including cardiovascular diseases and neuromuscular disorders. Gustav Strijkers authored over 250 works and mentored over 30 PhD students.
